Members of Ohio Environmental Service Industries Ready to Assist East Palestine Clean Up Efforts

Members of Ohio Environmental Service Industries are ready, willing and able to assist the community of East Palestine and any of the involved entities in the treatment, disposal or recycling of any substances deemed to need the attention of a permitted hazardous waste facility.

OESI is a trade association of Ohio’s commercial waste management facilities and businesses that provide waste storage, treatment, disposal and recycling services. Our members are not newcomers to Ohio and have a long history of responsible hazardous waste management within the state. Ohio’s rich manufacturing industry has looked to and depended on our members for safe, responsible management of hazardous materials for decades.

OESI members use state-of-the-art methods for processing hazardous wastes. Their operations are primarily regulated under the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) through permits issued by the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency (Ohio EPA) and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (US EPA).

Each year, our members process over 600,000 tons (that’s 1.2 billion pounds) of hazardous wastes generated by businesses, industries, and institutions in Ohio and other states. This represents 70% of the hazardous waste handled commercially in Ohio. The group advocates sound methods and programs for treating and disposing hazardous wastes in Ohio.
